GB Surfing hit the screens this morning as BBC Breakfast joined us at The Wave to get a closer look at our Olympic hopefuls and the journey towards LA 2028.

Mike Bushell and the BBC Breakfast team spent an afternoon with us earlier this summer, with Mike getting in the water himself before meeting some of the athletes at the heart of GB Surfing’s performance programme.

Under the watchful eye of Head of Performance Mick Cain and consultant coach Andy King, Mike saw our athletes in action and got a taste of what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Filmed at the start of the summer as the team prepared for the World Surf League season, the story has moved on quickly with Lukas Skinner currently sits 2nd in the men’s rankings, while Alys Barton is 4th in the women’s rankings, putting both firmly in the mix as the season reaches its business end.

It’s an exciting time for British surfing, and we’re proud to be sharing the journey with audiences across the UK.

A huge thank you to Mike Bushell and the BBC Breakfast team for spending time with us, telling our story and helping shine a spotlight on the incredible talent coming through GB Surfing.

And this is just the beginning. With 20 months to go until LA 2028, there’s plenty more to come.
