GB Surfing and the Welsh Surfing Federation Appoint Emily Williams and Phil Sadler as Junior Head Coaches

The Welsh Surfing Federation (WSF) is delighted to announce that Emily Williams and Phil Sadler will jointly take up the Junior Head Coach role for Wales.

These new appointments, made possible through GB Surfing’s investment in the Home Nations, will not only develop the WSF junior programme but also play an important role in aligning with the GB Surfing progression pathway and preparing young Welsh surfers for the step up in the GB squad.

Emily and Phil, join Beau Bromham (Surfing England), Craig Sutherland (SSF) and Jake Powell (CISF) as part of the Home Nations Junior Head Coach initiative. All five coaches will join a working group with GB Surfing to share their learnings, grow their knowledge and ultimately enhance the development of technically better young surfers throughout the Home Nations.

Talking about her appointment, Emily Williams, said: “I’m really excited to be working alongside Phil, GB Surfing and the WSF team to help develop our young talent in Wales. We’ve got some great surfers coming through, and I’m looking forward to helping them reach the next level in their surfing.

Phil Sadler, added: “Stoked to be working with Emily the WSF and GB Surfing to help the young surfers progress onto the world stage.”

Commenting on the appointment, Joel Gray, GB Surfing: Performance Pathway Manager, said: “This is a real positive appointment by the WSF and I’m looking forward to seeing Phill and Emily’s work roll out for the benefit of junior surfers throughout Wales. We now have a full team of excellent motivated coaches across all of the Home Nations and the wider GB Surfing junior strategy can start in earnest.
